You never want to bring a third person along on a date -- not unless that date happens to be November 10th. Infinity Ward's community manager Robert Bowling (A.K.A. fourzerotwo) has taken control and confirmed that a third-person camera viewpoint will be available in this holiday's monolithic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, though it'll be limited to specifically labeled online playlists.

"It's not something you can toggle on and off in ANY game," said Bowling. The special mode can only be played in private matches -- toggled on or off just like "Hardcore" settings -- or in playlists that are designated for third-person play. According to Bowling, everyone playing in a third-person playlist will be restricted to the viewpoint. "This is just another cool way to play the game," he said, "you obviously will still have the option to play gametypes normal as well."

Our friend, the internet, has an inscrutable video of some person running around in third person, but you're probably better off waiting for the "awesome trailer" the folks at Infinity Ward have planned.

LMFAO! I'm lovin the intro to the topic there. But anyways, yea I read about this 3rd person playlists on a couple sites but it was all just rumoured, I guess that it's pretty cool that it has actually been confirmed. I'm a big Gears of War fan, so no doubt, I will definately be playing this game mode a lot. I think 3rd person is pretty cool, except I'm wondering how actually shooting people is going to work out and in COD4, the 3rd person physics sucked really bad (spectate mode) so I've always hoped they would improve 3rd person physics for MW2 and I guess it looks like they will. What I mean by the 3rd person physics sucked is that if you watched someone run in 3rd person, the character would be running like be has a major slouch or your gun goes through every object and same with your body in 3rd person from COD4.

Some people are gonna think it's stupid, some people are gonna think it's awesome. Either way, having 3rd person in the game does not harm it in any way as you don't have to play it if you don't want to. It just increases the popularity as big 3rd person shooter gamers will be leaning towards buying this game even more. It's just a profitable move from Infinity Ward which has a pretty good chance at turning out to be fun and add variety.

Now that the game is out, I like the third person mode, though only when I hop into it with three other friends. We usually own :D
